At Beaumont Hill Academy, we value the learning opportunities that pupils have at home. Pupils can learn at home in various ways, such as reading, researching with technology, talking with family members/carers, and doing any work that is shared with home when it is appropriate to do so. Homework can help children reinforce their learning and improve their comprehension of topics. Each curriculum pathway provides regular opportunities to enhance learning beyond the classroom, such as lunchtime clubs, enrichment activities, educational trips and interventions.
Homework is tailored to the specific learning needs of each child, as we understand that combining school and home environments can be challenging for many parents/carers and students. We do not assign homework to pupils who would find it stressful or upsetting at home.
Beaumont Hill will keep sharing information about curriculum plans on the website and will give termly updates to parents/carers about what will be taught each term. This will support parents/carers to talk about learning with their child. Facebook, Tapestry, Frog, and Evidence for Learning platforms will also be used to celebrate pupils’ achievements and to provide parents/carers with an opportunity to discuss or extend learning at home.
