Secondary

Our secondary department offers education and support to pupils aged from 11 to 16 years. We offer a range of provision, which we adapt to meet each child’s individual needs.

All pupils follow the new National Curriculum, which we differentiate to meet individual needs. Some of our pupils are educated within small classes, where their sensory and physical needs can be met by our teaching and support staff. Other pupils follow a subject based curriculum, that is delivered by subject specialists. We share a site with Haughton Academy, and where appropriate a small number of pupils may be included in mainstream classes offered by Haughton Academy.

At Key Stage 3 and 4 we offer an inclusive curriculum and we support it with:

  • Literacy and numeracy strategies
  • Assessment and recording systems, which enable us to provide regular reports and feedback to pupils, parents and carers
  • Structured tasks to develop independent learning skills

Our facilities include, science laboratories, arts and ceramic studios, engineering and design technology workshops, and a forest school.

Pupils also have access to a range of specialist resources, including sensory rooms, an interactive theatre, a youth club, secure outside spaces and sports facilities including indoor and outdoor playing courts, playfields, a 25-metre swimming pool and hydrotherapy pool.
